The West Foundation is about building up and strengthening the community from which we came and giving back to an area in which we lived, that molded us. Our goal is to provide an avenue that supports these efforts in a highly diversified and rapidly changing environment.

In August 2015, I expressed to Freda Macon my concern about the youth of today and the unknown challenges they face. We discussed the lack of focus on STEM and how millions of technical jobs go unfulfilled every year. We’ve had many conversations around students randomly selecting majors only to earn a degree that doesn't provide a promising career.

I made it clear that I wanted to do something about the problems our young people face and try to help as many as I could. On that day, the West Foundation was born.
